How an actor can avoid getting broke

It is a very common thing for upcoming nollywood actors to be broke. This is due to the fact that many of them are usually not considered for financial reward when film budgets are being made. And they still need to keep working in order to boost their career and show off their skills and capabilities. But being broke isn’t a good thing. There are ways actors can pursue and promote their careers while, at the same time, getting some money to put body and soul together. And it has nothing to do with robbery or prostitution.

As an upcoming actor, you must sit down and plan how you are going to survive the first three to five years of your acting career. This is because it is most likely you are not going to get paid anything within this period and you need to ensure that things don’t go wrong. One way to avoid getting broke as an upcoming nollywood actor is to have a part-time trade. It could be anything from selling cars (that’s a joke) to selling recharge cards (if you’re not the shy type). But seriously, you need to be selling something. Truly, many ladies are already into this and it’s a great way to avoiding the temptation of falling into prostitution. The products you’re selling will help put some small change in your pocket as you jump from one location to another gradually building your acting career.

If you’re too shy to sell things then you can get into part-time or freelance jobs, as long as they will not interfere with your location time. If you know how to write very well you can go into writing blogs or articles for website. If you are lucky to have an uncle or family member that is into any type of trading or enterprise, the better for you. Anytime you’re not on set you should visit him or her and work yourself out so you can get some cash blessings afterwards. Becoming a successful actor is not an easy task, so you will need all the help you can get for you to get to the Promised Land.

Another way you can get some cash it to take part in TV series shows e.g. TV dramas, talks shows and so on, especially the established ones. These shows pay their actors and you can be assured of a regular income if you’re lucky to get a role that is continuous. If you’re tall, slim, handsome and pretty then it will be a great idea if you also put an eye on modelling and TV commercials. This kind of opportunity however comes once in a while, but it is surely worth giving a try.

The best way to avoid getting broke as an upcoming nollywood actor is to work as a crew member of a movie set. This means that you’ll be earning money for your job while developing your career at the same time. Jobs you can do on-set includes; location manager, property manager, make-up artist, production assistant and so on.
